How to Remove Your Tesla Wipers - Service Mode

Applies to: Model 3, Model Y, Model S, Model X

On many Tesla models, the wipers park beneath the bonnet edge. Do not force the arms upwards. Put them into service mode first, then they are easy to reach.

How to Activate Tesla Wiper Service Mode

  1. Shift the car into Park.
  2. Turn the wipers off if they are currently running.
  3. On the main touchscreen, navigate to Controls → Service → Service Mode → Wiper Service Mode → ON.
  4. The wipers will move to a vertical service position.
  5. You can now change the blades.
  6. The wipers will automatically return to their normal resting position when you shift out of Park or when you next activate the wiper function.

Just one quick check

Tesla occasionally updates its software and the location of settings within the touchscreen menu can shift between software versions. If you cannot find Wiper Service Mode under Controls → Service, try searching for it using the touchscreen search function. On some older software versions it may appear under Controls → Settings → Service and Reset.

Make Sure the Blades Fit

Wiper sizes and fittings can change between versions of the same model. Enter your registration and we'll match your car with the correct front and rear blades.

We’ll also send the fitting video and any service-mode steps your car needs. Open the box and you’re ready to go.
